Kosta Runjaic shared his views after Udinese beat Palermo 2-1 to advance to the Coppa Italia last 16.
“It was very important for us to reach the next round and we got the job done," the coach began. "We were up against a very good opponent - Palermo have a built a squad with the aim of winning promotion to Serie A. We knew they would be very aggressive and strong on the second balls. We scored at the right time and I'm very happy for [Nicolo] Zaniolo. He played really well and showed his class.
“[Lennon] Miller scored too and he's a very talented lad. There were a few situations where he showed what he can do but he's still adapting. He's got a great physique and he's very good with the ball at his feet. He can play as a defensive midfielder, box-to-box or even in the hole.
“[Matteo] Palma produced a solid display too, winning all his duels and he did well on the ball.
“[Adam] Buksa had a nasty clash and lost a bit of blood. He wanted to keep playing but I took him off because you have to be careful when there's a blow to the head. Hopefully he'll be ok for Sassuolo.
“After a home defeat, it's always good to win the next game. It was our first home win and it's very important because I want our stadium to become a fortress.
“Overall we played well today. I would have liked to won the game 3-0 but we weren't able to take any more of our chances.”
