Andrea Sottil expressed his satisfaction with the initial progress made by his team in pre-season training after watching them score 11 goals in their first runout against Austrian outfit Rapid Lienz.

Udinese notched six first-half goals before a completely different line-up emerged after the break to add five more.

“Although it wasn't a particularly difficult game, we played with the right attitude and tempo,” the coach offered after the final whistle. “I'm happy with how everyone has been working. The lads are eager to do well. We've got off on the right foot.

“There's a heavy workload in this initial stage of pre-season – an overload really – but since day one the lads have been very willing to put in the hard graft. I believe that through hard graft you build a team's identity.”

Sottil also commented on the performance of the many young players who got game time under their belts alongside the more experienced lads.

“They showed lots of quality .They're lucky to be training with top professionals who help to guide them in their development every day. They're on the right path and they're improving.”
