Here are the best bits from Beto’s exclusive interview with Udinese TV on Monday.

“I’m very close with my family. My parents are divorced but I have a good relationship with both of them. I grew up with my mother and two sisters. Nobody in the family played football. When I played for Uniao Tires, I had a job at the same time. I’d go to work in the morning and train in the evening. I stopped when I moved to Montijo. That’s when I really improved.

“The key season for me was 2020/21 when I started playing and scoring more goals for Portimonense. I still remember my first goal for the club which came in an away game against Porto. It was the first match in which I played the full 90 minutes and I managed to score in the 14th minute. I headed the ball goalwards and when I saw it go in, I thought ‘Wow!’ I got the call from Udinese after last season at Portimonense. I was so pleased because I was finally going to be able to play in Serie A. Everyone has always said that Serie A is a tough league for strikers to play in, so I was curious to see what it would be like for me.

“I’m a person who likes staying at home, relaxing, watching films and playing on the PlayStation with my friends. I always give my all on the pitch and try to improve every day. I’m sure I’ll keep doing so in training every day with this squad.

“I consider myself to be a complete striker because I’m tall, strong and fast, but there are still so many things that I have to improve. I took inspiration from Samuel Eto’o’s style of play.

“I wasn’t happy about reaching 33km/h in the Lazio game because I’ve got up to 35km/h in the past. I’d like to get up to 37km/h.

“The fans always send me messages about fantasy football. They say they’ve got me in their team and I have to score. When I do, they thank me because it’s helped them win in fantasy football.

“The team has been a bit inconsistent. We play well for a half and then less well for a half. We showed our desire to win against AC Milan because we knew we’re a strong side.

“I was excited to be facing [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic in the game against AC Milan. He said to me, ‘Keep going like this, you’re a good player,’ and I replied, ‘Thank you, this moment is like a dream for me.’ I was unable to swap shirts with him because everyone wanted it, but I did manage to get a photo.

“I ask the fans to believe in us. We want success.”
