The forward has two goals in as many games after netting against Venezia

Gerard Deulofeu expressed his satisfaction with his own and the team's start to the new campaign after Udinese beat Venezia 3-0.

The Spaniard has scored in both league games this term despite only featuring as a substitute so far as he works his way back to fitness following his knee problems injury last year.

“I'm really happy with the way I've started the season and that I've been able to help the team get these good results,” the 27-year-old told Udinese TV.

“There were times when we struggled a bit during the game but we controlled proceedings much better today. We wanted to win at our home and we did it.

“We played good, attacking football – that was clear to see. We can do better though: with the team we have we can play better. We've had two excellent matches now, so we're very happy.

“I feel good and I'm starting to enjoy my football again – I've really missed it. Last year I was missing a yard of pace but I feel good and strong now. I'm not back to my best yet but the coaching staff are doing a great job to help me build up my fitness. I'm pleased because what the staff and I are trying to do is make sure I'm able to play consistently throughout the whole season. I don't know how long it will take till I'm 100% though.

“As for my goals, I couldn't have asked for more. Football is all about goals and I've scored two in 60 minutes. My body isn't ready to go the full 90 minutes yet but after these first three games I'm delighted with my recovery

“I'm not running at opponents so much because I haven't quite got that confidence in my ability yet after just three games and not that long training. You build up that speed in training and I've only been back in full training for two weeks.”
