Today’s unexpected hero was Jaka Bijol. Back in action after recovering from an ankle injury, the defender put in a belter of a performance, scoring his side’s second goal moments before the final whistle. Here’s what he had to say to Udinese TV after the match:
“I’m delighted because I had a bit of bad luck at the start of the campaign. I’ve since put it all behind me and I want to keep up my great season and show what I’m capable of. I hope that I’ve repaid the faith shown in me by the coach and my team-mates.
“As for the goal, I’ve not really thought much about it but I was delighted. Before getting my head on the ball I thought that if we didn’t get a goal then the moment would be lost. It felt amazing to score in front of our fans and it’s a wonderful victory.
“We’re keeping on improving as a team and I think the sky is the limit. We’ll see how far we can go but it’s early days yet – we’ve got a lot more work to do. We want to show that we’re capable of staying high up the table.”
