Monday evening means Udinese Tonight and this week's guest in the Udinese TV lounge was Sandi Lovric.

The Slovenia midfielder spoke about Saturday's draw with Salernitana, national team-mate Jaka Bijol, his style of play and his footballing idol.

“I always give everything I've got,” the 24-year-old explained. “You have to be ready for the team whether you start or come off the bench – that way the coach knows he can trust you.

“I try to stay calm no matter what – that's just the way I am. I'm happy with how I performed against Salernitana.

“We wanted to win the game but it's never easy when you're a man down. We showed the right mentality and defended well. We had a few chances too. It's a shame we didn't win.

“Salernitana played well in the first half and closed down all the space. If we'd managed to take one of our chances, the match would have opened up.

“I know Bijol from playing with him for Slovenia. He's a smashing lad and a great player who can do an excellent job in defence too – as he does for the national team. It's a shame he got injured. He can only get better and I'm sure he'll become a leader at the back.

Sandi has found it easy to settle in in Udine thanks to his knowledge of Italian. He explained:
“I spent three years at Lugano, where they speak Italian. I learnt it at school too.”

Finally, Lovric spoke about his role model.

“Luka Modric is my idol. He's an incredible footballer and an incredible person. Hard work reaps rewards. He's always done his talking on the pitch.”
