Sandi Lovric has hailed Udinese's dogged attitude after they battled their way to a 0-0 draw with Salernitana. Having come on as a half-time substitute, the Slovenia midfielder helped shore up as 10-man Udinese sought to take something from the game.

“It was a very difficult game, especially when we were a man down in the second half, but we kept scrapping till the end with the right mentality and we even had the opportunities to win it,” the 24-year-old commented.

“I'm pleased with how I played but I'd have been happier if we'd won. We put in a solid team display, going the extra yard for our team-mates. We kept it tight and defended in our half. We knew we would have to dig in and wait for a chance or two on the counter.

“The fans were amazing: they got behind us right up till the end. They made such a difference. I want to thank everyone who came today.”

Lovric finished by discussing how he is finding life in Serie A.

“I didn't know what to expect in Italy but I'm happy to be here and I think I'm ready for it. It's not easy but I think I did well today. Now I want to do even better in the next few games.”
