Marino: "Pure joy"

The sporting director spoke after the Inter victory

Pierpaolo Marino was bursting with pride after Udinese claimed a memorable 3-1 win over Inter this Sunday afternoon. He shared his thoughts with Udinese TV after the match:

“We’ll drink in this feeling of joy for a week but then our focus will turn to the Verona game. The team bounced back wonderfully after going behind from Nicolo Barella’s free kick. Teams like Inter are capable of such moments, but we didn’t deserve to be losing. The team reacted wonderfully and it’s not the first time we’ve done this.

“The players went out there to win the game. In the past we’ve been less bold but we were all over them in all areas of the pitch today. Andrea Sottil deserves a lot of credit for today, as do the players.

“This Udinese team showed great desire to win. Beto was firing up the fans as well. Being top - even if it’s temporary - is a wonderful feeling. I want to bask in this glory with the club, because the Pozzo family pour their hearts and souls into the club, and with the fans who were top drawer. The synergy between the supporters and the players was tangible. I hope this carries on for as long as possible.

“It’s a real squad effort. For example, Isaac Success did really well to win the corner from which we scored the second and Tolgay Arslan got his goal after coming off the bench.”
