Ilija Nestorovski made an appearance on Udinese Tonight and discussed his new contract and thoughts ahead of the 2022/23 season:

"I’m delighted to have signed a new deal because it means I’m staying at a top club. I’ve been here for three years and now I’ll be in Udine for even longer. We’re keen to have a great 2022/23.

"When I was mulling over my choices I asked my kids and they started chanting 'Udinese, Udinese!’. They wanted me to stay at the club. We’re at ease here and so that’s why I’ve opted to stay.

"It was tough being injured at the start of 2021/22, which was compounded by the fact the club made new signings and consequently I fell down the pecking order. But we’re starting from scratch now; I’m fired up and I want to give my all in training to show the coach that I’m worthy of a place.

"As for my first impressions with new coach Andrea Sottil, they’ve been overwhelmingly positive. He’s a really enthusiastic guy and this rubs off on the players. What’s more, the competition in the squad only serves to make us work harder.

"Regarding my ambitions for the forthcoming campaign, our aim as a team is to break the 40-point barrier as soon as we can and then try to improve on how we did last season. I think we’re capable of this; we’ve not lost many players and the new boss has fire in his belly. We can do better than last season.

"I’m keen to play for North Macedonia again. It’s not just down to me, but I’ll train hard and play with getting a call-up in mind. We’ll see what happens."
