Nehuen Perez reflected on the defeat to Fiorentina and the season as a whole for him personally among other things when he was hosted on the Udinese Tonight show on Monday evening.

“Yesterday was a difficult match and we didn't make a good start,” the defender told Udinese TV. “We have lots of important players our injured and Fiorentina are great team. They deserved to win it.

“They rotated between their two European games but they have a very strong squad – they basically have two teams. Of course we have to be self-critical but these things definitely need to be factored in

“We know we need to start games better. That's something we need to work on.

“I want to really thank the fans who came to Florence. They made themselves heard all game long and kept supporting us.

“Festy [Ebosele] has improved so much. He's worked hard all season and showed what he's about yesterday. He had a great game.

“It's been a good year for me. I'm grateful to the gaffer for the faith he's shown in me all this time. I've worked hard every day to improve and I must keep getting better. I think I've honed my tactical awareness a lot, especially through playing on the left, which isn't my natural position.

“[Jaka] Bijol is a fantastic player and I hope he stays at Udinese for a long time.

“The toughest opponent I've faced is Bologna's [Riccardo] Orsolini. He's a real tricky customer.

“Our goal for the last three matches is to get as many points as possible, focusing on one game at a time. As a footballer and as a professional, I never want to lose, and the same goes for my team-mates. We want to end the season on a high.”
