21-year-old midfield wizard Lazar Samardzic was the guest on the latest episode of Udinese Tonight, and was interviewed about a wide variety of topics. Here’s some of what he had to say:

“As for my opening goal against Cremonese, it was pure instinct. I like to shoot with the outside of the boot, it’s something I work hard on in training.

“We put in a great performance on Sunday. We were aware that we’d let our standards slip in the last three matches and we were keen to bounce back. I felt like I got back to my best in that game.

“I’m getting more game time this season compared to 2021/22, and my stats are a result of this [Samardzic is the youngest player in Serie A to score more than five goals]. I’m still just a kid and I’ve still got so much to learn. Opponents have been studying me and they try to not let me get onto my left foot. Serie A is a tough league, so these difficulties are to be expected.

“I never hold back in training. Andrea Sottil knows what I have to offer as a player and I want to show him what I’m capable of. The coach picks his team based on our opponents, so if I’m left out then I respect his decision.

“I think my defending has improved, but I’ve still got some way to go. Obviously my game is all about attacking and dribbling. As for my preferred role, I enjoy floating behind the front line.

“Regarding our aims moving into the latter stages of the season, we’re not focusing on the league table, rather taking things game by game. We’ve got seven games to go and we want to win them all.”
