Vivaldo Semedo has revealed how he is finding life in Italy since joining Udinese from Sporting Lisbon last summer.

Speaking on Udinese Tonight on Monday evening, the 17-year-old began: “The first difference is that here at Udinese I'm training with the first team while back in Portugal I worked with my age group.

“The football is more technical in Portugal. In Italy it's a lot more tactical. I can learn a lot here.

The striker also spoke about his special relationship with fellow countryman Beto.

“He's helping me a lot both on and off the pitch. He's not just a player – he's family to me.”

So far this season Semedo has been turning out for the Primavera side and joining the senior squad for training and on matchday, but with he has one target clear in mind.

“I'm working hard to make by Serie A debut. That's my goal for the season."

The youngster also reflected on Portugal's performance at the World Cup.

“I'm sorry about the way things turned out for Portugal but I'm confident about the future. We have lots of quality young players. I hope to work my way into the national team one day.”

Finally, he commented on his own position and his boyhood idols:

“I can play as a false nine or on the wing, but my favourite position is centre forward

“I had two idols as a kid: [Thierry] Henry and the Brazilian Ronaldo. They're the two I try to emulate as I think I'm a similar sort of player.”
