Sottil: "3-0 is a harsh scoreline"

The coach spoke after Roma beat his side at the Olimpico

Andrea Sottil was interviewed after Udinese fell to a 3-0 away defeat to Roma. Here’s some of what he had to say:

“We got off to a good start, showing personality and courage. Had we done better in the final third we could’ve stayed in the game. We gave Roma too much space for the second goal – we should’ve fouled them on the counter attack and broken up their momentum.

“We came out after the break with bite, pressing them high up, and had we scored our penalty the course of the game might’ve been different. 3-0 is a harsh scoreline. Gianluca Mancini should’ve been on a yellow for a foul on Isaac Success before the penalty, meaning he would’ve been sent off when the spot kick was awarded.

“Beto’s absence? I don’t like to talk about absentees, but it’s true to say that Beto and Success complement each other well in attack. When Beto isn’t in the team we lack someone who can get in behind. He’s a crucial player for us and we felt his absence.

“Like I said before, we were always in the game and it’s a shame and frustrating about the second goal. We’ll put the game behind us and look ahead to our next match.“
