Sottil on Spezia v Udinese: “A precious point, let's continue on our positive run”

The coach shares his thoughts after the Spezia match

Udinese came away with a point on Tuesday night after a slow start against Spezia. The Ligurian side looked sharp from the get-go and Andrea Sottil was certainly not surprised by that. “Spezia are a well-coached team, and we knew that. We had to work a little too hard at times, especially in the first half.”

The coach was disappointed with some elements of his team’s performance but was impressed with their reaction and improved display in the second half. “When you prepare for a match, it’s important to do it well. I wasn’t pleased with some of the defensive play from my team. We lost too many battles out there. In the dressing room, I tried to improve our approach on the pitch, especially in those passages of play. We have the physical attributes to be stronger and it went better in the second half.”

There are a few injuries in the team, which could account for the lack of fluidity in certain areas. “I have some positions that are more difficult to fill. It wasn’t a great, shining performance. However, we’re taking home a precious point and let’s continue on our positive run.”
