Sottil urges team to keep up hard work after win at Samp

The coach shared his thoughts after the victory

After watching his side get back to winning ways with a narrow victory away at Samp, Andrea Sottil was full of praise for his players.

"The players wanted to have this training camp. It was done with a real sense of responsibility. Today, I saw once again – even though, as expected, it was a scrappy and unspectacular affair – that attitude, focus and ruthlessness from everyone," he said. "It was a deserved win – well done to the boys."

Commenting on the substitution of Gerard Deulofeu, who had only just made his long-awaited return off the bench, the coach added: "He had 20-25 minutes at most today. He did really well when he came on – he is fundamental for us. He felt a slight discomfort after a collision, nothing major, but we opted to take him off as a precaution."

He continued: "You can win in a less spectacular way, but I want our identity to remain intact. Today we built our chances by playing and the victory will help us to recover and get back on our feet. Now we must continue to run hard and build consistency."
