Sottil: "We leave with our heads held high"

Post-match reaction from the boss after Udinese were beaten 3-1 by Inter

Andrea Sottil offered praise for his side's performance after they were unfortunate to be edged out by Inter at San Siro.

“It was always going to be tough away to Inter but we got off to a good start,” the coach commented after Udinese's 3-1 defeat.

“We went behind to a penalty but then we got a deserved equaliser. In the second half Inter came out more, as I expected. It's a real shame we couldn't score another. The turning point was when we had four against two – you have to score there. Instead we went and conceded, but that's football for you. My team gave them a game and can leave with their heads held high.”

Adam Masina impressed after replacing the injured Enzo Ebosele with a quarter of an hour on the clock.

“He did really well and deserves a lot of credit for his performance. We're all delighted to have such an important player available again. It wasn't easy for him to come into the game cold like that but he played well.

“It was his first match in five months so a little drop-off towards the end was to be expected. [Florian] Thauvin started his first game and played an hour and [Roberto] Pereyra, who was coming back from injury, gave everything he had. Our biggest regret is not taking more of the chances we fashion.”
