Jens Stryger Larsen appeared live on Udinese TV on Monday from Naples, where the squad are staying ahead of the Serie A Week 36 clash against the Azzurri on Tuesday night.
“It won’t be an easy game tomorrow,” said Larsen. “Napoli are in great form but I think we can pick up some points tomorrow. It was a great game against Napoli last time. I think we’ve been playing well recently, but unfortunately we’ve been undone by late mistakes.
“Napoli have some great attacking players and they’ve scored a lot of goals recently. We want to pick up some points – that’s the most important thing.”
Larsen has been a key man for Luca Gotti’s side this season – but the Dane was keen to play down his role within the team.
“I don’t feel like more of a leader than I have been in previous years,” he said. “I’ve always tried to help the team over the past few years, both in matches and in training. I want to score goals and help us to pick up points. I’ve already got my best-ever Serie A goals haul but I want to score more before the end of the season.”
Larsen has popped up in a number of different positions this season, but stressed that he is happy to do a job wherever he is required.
“I’m happy to play on either the right or left side of attack, but perhaps it’s a little easier on the right,” he said. “My aim is to always help the team – I’ll play wherever the coach asks me to play. When we’re defending, playing on the left or right does change things. I prefer playing against left-footed forwards – that’s easier for me because it means I have the chance to win the ball back using my right foot.”
