Find out what the club’s vice-president had to say

Udinese vice-president Stefano Campoccia spoke about fans returning to stadiums on Udinese Tonight.

“The current decree is unsatisfactory. It refers to 50% capacity for stadiums in the white zone, but this is linked to a protocol whereby capacity is limited in line with interpersonal space of one metre. That distance wouldn’t allow you to fill a stadium to 50%, but only 25-30%.

“In terms of the distancing, there’s clearly a configuration error in the decree which refers to a protocol that is no longer suited to the current situation.

“Football is in a serious crisis because of the pandemic. We probably continue to give off the impression that it’s a hedonistic world in which, given the amounts that the big clubs pay for players, it seems the crisis is no longer present. In reality, however, I don’t think any sector of the economy has suffered as much. Based on the spectacle of football, the game massively relies on revenue from supporters. We’ve tried to draw attention to this, but it hasn’t yet materialised.

“We are against protests such as halting our league campaign. We have to call on everyone’s composure, while knowing that if the government continues to pass this issue from ministry to ministry, we’ll have to do something.

“Football has a right to start up again like other sectors of the economy. The Euros showed that people can go to stadium if you want them to. It’s not possible that France, where there are very strict policies in place, accepts people at the stadium, as in the Premier League and LaLiga, while Italy is at the end of the line.

“We hope that the measures that we all expect will be introduced in the coming days.”
