Filip Benkovic spoke to Udinese TV live from the club’s training camp in Lienz. Here’s what he had to say on preparations for 2022/23 and his hopes and expectations for the upcoming campaign:
"I’m fired up and ready for the new season; I feel good. We’re training hard to prepare ourselves as best we can for the new season. It’s going to be quite the challenge; the fact that the World Cup is taking place in November means 2022/23 will be an unprecedented campaign. For this reason it’ll be even more important to be firing on all cylinders.
"I feel good. I’m aiming to give my best, help the team, and fight to win the coach over with my performances in every training session and in every match.
"With our new boss Andrea Sottil we’re capable of doing really well. He’s really experienced and has a strong personality. Sometimes he yells a lot but it’s only because he’s trying to get the most out of us. This has a positive impact because when you train hard you’re able to play better in matches.
"These first few days of our training camp are going great; we’re preparing well for the upcoming friendlies. There’s a great atmosphere here, we’re enjoying being together which bodes well for the new season."
