Following the home draw with Genoa, coach Luca Gotti spoke to Udinese TV.

“It’s obvious that I expected us to be able to win that sort of game, while bearing in mind that it was essential not to lose. I expected us to take better advantage of this type of fixture. The game turned into an intense and combative affair from the start rather than a passing exhibition. In that sort of game, only goals can change things and I tried to do so by changing the formation and the players to try to spend more time in the opposition half, with all the associated risks.

“Destiny Udogie’s goal seemed to be written in the stars as it’s also his birthday today. I saw he was offside straight away but I hoped that a touch by an opposition player might let him off the hook. Regardless of that, the technical brilliance subsequently shown was impressive.

“As for Roberto Pereyra, he has a back problem, but I don’t know how serious it is. When he came off, we were deprived of his quality which we were missing in the final third.”
