Luca Gotti spoke to Udinese TV following the 2-1 defeat away to Torino on Monday night.

“The team suffered the most after they went 2-0 up. Straight after the goal, Torino kept pressing and we couldn’t clear our lines. We eventually got out of that situation and changed the course of the game by making tactical and technical changes, culminating in Forestieri’s goal which gave us belief that we could muster a draw.

“I wanted to play Pereyra and three forwards. I like him in midfield because he reads the game so well and that’s such an important quality in matches like this one. The contest then took a different direction and not many passes went through the midfield, but when I moved him further forward, he did much better.

“Every game is important. We have six more matches that could really change the shape of the league and calm the team down at a time where we’re getting everyone fit again and we can allow ourselves to try out different things.

“We had four or five chances to equalise but didn’t take them, so we head home with no points and one fewer game to go in this mini league between now and Christmas.”
