The Udinese sporting director Pierpaolo Marino spoke to Udinese Tonight on Tuesday about the team’s current form.
“Some of our players didn’t perform to their usual standard yesterday and that was a problem. At the start of the first and second halves, the team didn’t show much compactness. We prepared for the game in one way, but it was played out in another. Udinese can play much better than that. We have spells in games where we play very well and others where we play less well. We haven’t managed to come up with an explanation. The team needs to improve in this regard.
“Some of the criticism is fair, some of it isn’t. Last year we were the only team in Serie A not to concede a goal from a corner. I’m not going to single out players for individual mistakes, but I’m talking about the balance in the team. We have to understand why we’re making these mistakes and work on the team mentality.
“I’ve had two meetings with Gino Pozzo today and of course, he was not pleased with the team’s result, but he encouraged us to work hard and correct those mistakes.”
